The easiest generation to teach is the baby boomer generation becuase they have the drive to work hard and respect authority figures. They also have been through pretty difficult time and are appreciative of things that are given to them.
The hardest generation to teach is gen z because they want to do things themselves. They don't seem to have the same work ethic as generations before. They challenge authority more.
Easiest- Gen X becuase they have enough of a tech background to utilize it but want to learn more. Also, are structured and determined.
Hardest- Gen Y becuase they don't typically want an authoritative figure overseeing their work and prefer to learn on their own instead of being taught. They also are see the world through rose colored glasses and don't like conflict.
The easiest generation to teach, in my opinion, is generation X. I feel this is because I can teach them the way I have been taught over the years which is what I am accustomed to.
I feel the generation Z would be the most difficult because of all of the technology there is out there in today's world. There would be quite a few students who would know things I don't whcih I feel would make them more difficult to teach because they would be ahead of me as far as technology is concerned.
I think your teaching has to be adapted to each generation's learning styles and background. Understanding the characteristics of the generation makes it possible to adapt to their learning style.
I think the easiest generation to teach is the Gen X generation because they still respond well to traditional types of teaching and also enjoy new methods of teaching.
I think the hardest generation to teach is the Gen Z generation because they are so used to being entertained and doing things interactively, that it's hard to keep their attention.
I believe Gen Y. Now whether this is because it is my own generation or because of the qualities it holds I am unsure. These students want guidance but room for creativity. I believe we (my generation) are the last generation in which creativity, roll play, and family involvement took precedence over technology and constant entertainment.
I think the easiest generation to teach for me is the Baby boomers because that is the category I fall into, but I don't teach them, so I think Generation Z may be easier because they already know all about the technology, which I am still trying to learn. The hardest generation to teach is Generation Y students. They expect all of the new technology, but they don't feel the need to work to learn-they want it right now and if they don't get it, they just want to move on, rather than trying harder. The most difficult group to teach technology is Seniors because they did not grow up with all of this technology.
The easiest generation to teach is your own generation. You have experienced similar situations and are interested in what's going on in the world at that time. It's harder to teach the other generations because it can be difficult to relate to them. For generations other than your own you have to take the knowledge you have and be able to adapt it to your learners’ needs, their experiences, and their interests.
I disagree that their is an easier or harder generation to teach. Attributes within any group are generalizations that don't make considerations regarding the teacher/student rapport. Attributes from various groups that would create obstacles withint teaching and learning are: Seniors--difficulty understanding/using technology Baby Boomers--comfortable working wihtin a hierarchy Gen X--need for personal control/authority Gen Y--lack of accountability/responsibility
I beleive the current Generation Z is the hardest to teach. Not only do they know more than us in some areas of technology but their constant need for an "entertainment" style of teaching.
I think the easiest to teach for me would be gen x because I can relate easiest to my own generation. I feel that the hardest would be the seniors because they are more likely to be set in their ways.
I think Seniors are the easiest to teach because if they are genuinely interested in learning then they are the are the most attentive and patient.
I think the Generation Z group will be the most difficult to teach because the nature of technology is change and so many of this group will be able to absorb the new technology before it is even available in the schools.
I think the easiest generation to teach is Generation X. I think this is because this is my generation. It is easiest because this is what I am familiar with. It is how I learned and what I know.
The hardest generation to teach would either be the Seniors or Generation Z. The Seniors because they are resistent to technology and the Generation Z because they are so involved in technology and want everything now.
The easiest is generation y since they tend to have more independence with a sense of team. The hardest is Z since they want it NOW with lots of "bells and whistle" value. Attitude doesn't help either.
I guess that the Senior generation would be the easiest to teach because of their respect for authority and willingness to work hard. However, their lack of technology skills would prove to be very difficult in terms of teaching.
I am not sure what the hardest generation to teach would be. Possibly generation Z because they are already technology savvy ("they know it all") and they seem pretty independent.
The easiest generation to teach woule be the senior generation. Their make-up fits the traditional school model.
The hardest generation is generation y. This generation uses technology daily and does well with group work and independent research. Schools are trying to transition to meet their needs. However, the economy is making the transition difficult due to budget cuts and staff reductions.
What genration is the easiest to teach? I would say gen X or babyboomers because they seem to have more respect for authority figures. Therefore, I think they are more prone to stay on task and make the people around them happy not just themselves.
What generation is the hardest? I would have to say that the current generation Y is the hardest to teach. One reason for this is the fact that it is very hard to keep these students on task and satisfied it is like you have to constantly put on a dog and pony show for them. Also with all of the technology that they are used to it is very hard to pique their interest at all times. Furthermore, I feel that they do not respect authority figures near as much previous generations. It is as if they feel that they are already entitled to oppurtunities that they have not earned through hard work and perseverance. To make this situation even worse I think parents continue to fuel the fire instead of trying to extinguish this since of entitlement.
Easiest to teach may be gen x who have been exposed to a broad range of teaching patterns and who have a great deal of tech savvy and the ability to use the tools available to them. Hardest to teach may be seniors who sometimes are not willing to accept new information.
Easiest Generation to teach: Gen Y....they teach themselves. Assign them the objective and give them the autonomy to complete it.
ReplyDeleteHardest Generation: Varies. Everyone is hesitant to change.

ReplyDeleteI think that Generation Y is the easiest.
ReplyDeleteGeneration Z would be the hardest for me.
Easiest - Baby Boomers - they have a history of discipline and structure, but are also typically open to change and new ideas
ReplyDeleteMost difficult - Gen Y - they do not consistently respect the knowledge of those who are older than them and have short attention spans
I think Seniors are the easiest to teach because if they are genuinely interested in learning then they are the are the most attentive and patient.
